Be it for an industrial warehouse or a Car workshop, in large halls the floor always plays an important role. It should be easy to clean, withstand heavy loads and have a long service life. Unlike the other alternatives, PVC tiles meet all of these requirements.

Anyone who wants to repair an industrial floor or workshop floor should first think about what type of repair is really worth it for them. It's not just about the price, there are also much more important aspects in the game. A concrete floor can be renovated in various ways, the most common of which include laying PVC tiles and epoxy painting.

It has to withstand stress and chemicals

Forklifts and heavy machines drive in production halls and goods are often stored on the floor. When it comes to PVC tiles, you must therefore choose the version for high loads, which can withstand more than ten years in heavily used companies without any problems. Most companies produce such a variant, terramondi also has tiles for enormous loads, namely the terramondi industrial flooring series. These tiles do not change color because the polymer structure is resistant to most oils and acids. It is sufficient to clean the floor from time to time with water and a cleaning agent.

Epoxy floors, which are so popular in many companies, have completely different properties when it comes to durability. Compared to other types of flooring, these are inexpensive and can even be branded with a company logo. However, they are not particularly suitable for operations where forklifts or even cars operate. On forklifts the narrow tires are a problem and on cars their high weight and the hot tires cause abrasion on the ground, which then causes color changes due to chemicals. If you don't choose a non-slip surface, this will also become a problem. This is not a problem with PVC tiles, which are always made with a rough surface.

Installations and possible repairs should be easy

The larger the hall, the higher the costs for installation - not only from the point of view of the material, but also from the point of view of the work. The time required for the relocation affects how long operations in the respective hall have to be interrupted. Epoxy floors typically require three coats to be applied (penetrating resin, leveling compound and then epoxy resin). The first layer should dry for 24 hours and you should wait a similar amount of time after the final layer. As soon as cracks appear in the paint anywhere in the hall, the entire floor must be renovated.

Laying terramondi tiles in a warehouse

Laying PVC tiles, on the other hand, is much easier. The tiles should be stored in the room where they are being installed for 24 hours so that the temperature can equalize and the tiles do not expand or contract. Uneven surfaces must be leveled with a leveling compound, holes and cracks filled, and a cement screed should also be applied in damp rooms. The leveling is dry in a few hours. Then the tiles are used, which are only laid and not glued, the whole process goes very quickly. With this procedure no drying time is required. And if a tile happens to break, only that one piece needs to be replaced.

The freely laid PVC tiles are being used more and more often in industrial halls. The advantages are clear, and there is practically only one disadvantage - the higher price. Everyone has to decide for themselves whether the investment is worth it for them.
